1-Isopropyl-3-methyl-1H-pyrazol-5-amine (IMPA) is a chemical that is used to measure the concentration of chloride in water. It is a dilute solution of IMPA dissolved in methanol. The sensitivity of IMPA is dependent on the concentration of chloride, which can be adjusted by adding more or less IMPA to the mixture. This reagent should be stored in a cool place and away from light because it will degrade over time. The optimal range for measuring chloride with IMPA is between 0.01 and 2.0 mg/L.
