Description

4-(3-Isothiocyanatopropyl)morpholine is a synthetic compound that inhibits protein synthesis and induces apoptosis in cells. It is an antibiotic with antibacterial activity and has been shown to have anticancer properties. 4-(3-Isothiocyanatopropyl)morpholine binds to the bacterial enzyme ribonucleotide reductase and blocks the production of nucleotides, which are vital for DNA replication. This drug also binds to cancer cells, leading to their death by inhibiting protein synthesis. 4-(3-Isothiocyanatopropyl)morpholine has not been shown to be active against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus or Bacillus subtilis.
