Description

2-(1H-Imidazol-2-yl)ethyl]amine dihydrochloride is a drug that belongs to the group of receptor antagonists. It has been shown to be a competitive antagonist at histamine H2 receptors in rat ileum, and has high affinity for the imidazole binding site on the alpha 1-adrenergic receptor in guinea pig lung tissue. This compound also inhibits adenylate cyclase activity and increases cAMP levels by binding to the adenylate cyclase receptor, which is a key enzyme in regulating cellular metabolism. 2-(1H-Imidazol-2-yl)ethyl]amine dihydrochloride is an effective inhibitor of cardiac contractility as well as cardiac arrhythmias.
