Description:

1-Isopropylimidazolidin-2-one is an epoxy compound that reacts with a number of amines to form imines. It is used as a chemical intermediate, and can be used as an additive to polymers. 1-Isopropylimidazolidin-2-one reacts with primary amines to form imine compounds, which are useful in the production of polyurethanes. This reaction also occurs with secondary amines, but it requires higher temperatures. The reductive amination reaction of 1-isopropylimidazolidin-2-one is used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals such as amphetamines or antibiotics such as erythromycin.
