Product Information

Name:
4-(1H-Imidazol-2-yl)pyridine
Synonyms:
  • pyridine
  • 4-(1H-imidazol-2-yl)-
  • 4-(1H-2-Imidazolyl)-Pyridine
Description:

4-(1H-Imidazol-2-yl)pyridine (4-IMPY) is a copper complex that was synthesized in an enantioselective nitroaldol reaction. The chiral centre of 4-IMPY has been determined to be the nitrogen atom. The ligands are either carbon monoxide or cyanide, which is also what catalyzes the reaction. Copper complexes are used as catalysts for many reactions, including asymmetric hydrogenations, nitroaldol reactions, and oxidation reactions.
