5-Isopropyl-1H-indole-2,3-dione is a molecule that is used in the screening of kinases. It has been shown to have antiproliferative and cytotoxic effects against certain cancer cells. This drug also inhibits the activity of phosphatases, which are enzymes that regulate cellular metabolism by controlling the level of phosphorylation of proteins. 5-Isopropyl-1H-indole-2,3-dione also inhibits the activity of dehydrogenases, which are enzymes that catalyze oxidation reactions in cells. 5-Isopropyl-1H-indole-2,3-dione is being studied for its potential use as a treatment for diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM2).
