Imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine-2-carboxylic acid is a benzyl, haloalkyl, or hydroxyalkyl compound that has been shown to have an antagonist effect on the amino acid receptor. Imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine-2-carboxylic acid has also been shown to have excitotoxic activity in the brain and can cause anoxia in newborn animals. In addition, imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine-2-carboxylic acid is also known as an alkylthio compound. The drug may also be able to reduce cardiac arrhythmias.
