Product Information
- IMIDAZO[1,2-A]PYRAZINE-2-CARBOXYLIC ACID
Imidazo[1,2-a]pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid is a chemical compound that has been used as an antituberculosis drug. It is effective against a wide range of microorganisms including erythrocytic and mycobacterial isolates. Imidazo[1,2-a]pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. This binding prevents the formation of an antibiotic-inhibitor complex with the enzyme cell wall synthesis that is required for cell wall biosynthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. Imidazo[1,2-a]pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid also has antifungal activity against Candida glabrata.
