Product Information
2-Iodo-6-Methoxypyridine is a benzene derivative that can be synthesized from the reaction of methoxybenzene and isonitriles. It is an oxidative tetracyclic compound with a nothapodytine ring system. This compound undergoes photolysis in the presence of light to form 2,4,6-trimethylpyridine, which can then react with an aromatic halide to form 2-iodo-6-methoxypyridine. The sequence of reactions for this process is outlined below:
2CH3OCH2C6H4 + CH3Br → C6H5CH2Br + CH3CHOCH2C6H4
→ C6H5CH2Br + 2CH3CHOCH2C6H4 → C7H7Br + C7H7CHOCH2C6H4 →
C7H
