Product Information
- Imidazole,2-isopropyl-1-methyl- (8CI)
- 2-Isopropyl-1-methylimidazole
2-Isopropyl-1-methyl-1H-imidazole is a peroxidase enzyme that contains an imidazole ring coordinated to water. It has been shown to catalyze the oxidation of perchlorate and other substrates in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. 2-Isopropyl-1-methyl-1H-imidazole is also able to form a dimer through steric interactions with histidine residues on the surface of the enzyme. The enzyme binds protonated 1-methylimidazole, which is used as substrate for the reaction, and oxidizes it. The nature of this enzyme's active site allows it to oxidize substrates including perchlorate.
