Product Information
- 2-Iodo-4-Methoxypyrimidine
- Pyrimidine, 2-Iodo-4-Methoxy-
2-Iodo-4-methoxypyrimidine is a heterocyclic organic compound with the molecular formula CHN. It is a nitro derivative of pyrimidine, which is an aromatic heterocycle. 2-Iodo-4-methoxypyrimidine has been synthesized by reacting magnesium with cinnoline in the presence of iodine and trifluoromethyl iodide. The synthesis of 2-iodo-4-methoxypyrimidine involves oxidation of 2,4'-dihydroxypyridine to 2,4'-dioxopyridine using lithium metal as the oxidant. This reaction is followed by nucleophilic displacement of one of the hydrogens on the pyrrole ring by methoxy group from methoxybenzene. The functional groups present in this molecule are imine, nitro and boronic ester.
