Product Information
2-(1H-Indol-1-yl)ethanol is a catalytic amine that was synthesized from ethylene and propylene carbonate. It can be used in the synthesis of 1,2-dihydroquinolinium salts and 1,4-benzoquinone derivatives by reaction with malonates or alcohols. The yield of these reactions increases with longer reaction times. 2-(1H-Indol-1-yl)ethanol has been shown to have a transport mechanism that is anion dependent. This compound has been shown to react with hydrogen bond donors such as hydroxyalkyl groups, which are found on the surface of many substrates. 2-(1H-Indol-1-yl)ethanol has been shown to have potential as an organic solvent for use in electrochemical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry.
