Description:

Isochroman is a natural product that has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against HL-60 cells and is an acetate extract of the plant Etoac. The acetate extract of this plant has been shown to be effective against congestive heart failure and coronary heart disease. Isochroman has also been shown to inhibit the release of neurokinin-1 (NK-1) receptor, which may be responsible for its anti-inflammatory properties. The chemical structure of Isochroman consists of two molecules of acetate linked by an intramolecular hydrogen bond. This acetate group is derived from 2 molecules of acetic acid combined with 1 molecule of glycerol, which are all found in Etoac. Intramolecular hydrogen bonding between the acetate groups may be the mechanism by which Isochroman inhibits cancer cell proliferation.
