Product Information
- 2-Pyrimidinamine, 5-Iodo-4-Methoxy-
- 2-Amino-5-iodo-4-methoxypyrimidine
5-Iodo-4-methoxypyrimidin-2-amine is a purine analogue that binds to enzymes that catalyze the synthesis of DNA and RNA. It has been shown to bind to enzymes such as ribonucleotide reductase, deoxyribonuclease, and thymidylate synthetase, which are involved in the production of DNA and RNA. 5-Iodo-4-methoxypyrimidin-2-amine also inhibits bacterial growth by binding to enzymes involved in DNA replication such as dna gyrase and topoisomerase IV. This drug also has been shown to be an effective treatment for leukemia cells. The mechanism of action for 5-iodo-4-methoxypyrimidin-2 amine may involve its ability to circumvent mutations in target sites on DNA.
