2-(4-Isopropylpheny)-4H-chromen-4-one is a synthetic, fluorophore that has been used in the field of tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) research. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of tPA activity, with an IC50 value of 7.5 μM. 2-(4-Isopropylpheny)-4H-chromen-4-one is activated by acidic environments and can be used as a sample preparation agent for the determination of tPA antigen levels in human serum samples. This compound has also been found to have an uptake in nasal passages, making it a potential candidate for use as a drug for the treatment of rhinitis and other sinus conditions. 2-(4-Isopropylpheny)-4H-chromen-4-one can also be used as a fluorescent probe for FTIR spectroscopy and activity tests when combined with other compounds
