Description

Isoescin IB is a saponin that has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the growth of bacteria, yeast and fungi. Isoescin IB also has been found to have pharmacokinetic properties that make it suitable as a drug candidate for clinical use. The study of the pharmacokinetics of Isoescin IB was carried out in rats, with a sample preparation technique involving quillaja saponaria (QS) and aesculus hippocastanum (AH). Its toxicity studies were conducted using a Sprague-Dawley rat model. Isoescin IB is not currently available as a pharmaceutical dosage form.
