Description

2-Isopropyl-5-methyl-cyclohexanecarboxylic acid is an amide that is used as a dietary supplement or in the manufacture of pharmaceutical preparations. This compound has antimicrobial properties and can be used to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. 2-Isopropyl-5-methyl-cyclohexanecarboxylic acid has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi when heated to 70°C for 10 minutes, but not at lower temperatures. The pharmacokinetic properties of this compound have been determined through studies on rats and mice. 2-Isopropyl-5-methyl-cyclohexanecarboxylic acid was shown to have a half life of 40 hours in rats, but only 5 hours in mice.
2-Isopropyl-5 -methylcyclohexanecarboxylic acid was also shown to bind with magnesium ions in both molecular modeling experiments
