Product Information
- pyridine, 2-(1H-imidazol-2-yl)-
- 2-(Imidazol-2-Yl)-Pyridine
2-(1H-Imidazol-2-yl)pyridine is a small molecule that has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis. It inhibits the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which is the process by which DNA is replicated. 2-(1H-Imidazol-2-yl)pyridine has been used in animal models of bowel disease, such as inflammatory bowel disease and ulcerative colitis, to decrease disease activity. This drug also inhibits melanogenesis and has been shown to be an effective treatment for vitiligo. 2-(1H-Imidazol-2-yl)pyridine binds ATP, but not RNA or DNA, suggesting that it may act as a protein kinase inhibitor. The most likely binding site is a pyridinyl group coordinated by two imidazole groups on the same side of the ring.
