Description:

Isothiocyanic acid 3-buten-1-yl ester is a polycarboxylic acid that has been shown to inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells. The mechanism of action for this compound is through the inhibition of fatty acid synthesis, mitochondrial membrane potential, and long-term toxicity. Isothiocyanic acid 3-buten-1-yl ester also inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in prostate cancer cells. Isothiocyanic acid 3-buten-1-yl ester binds to the mitochondrial membrane by forming an ion pair with adenosine triphosphate (ATP), thereby inhibiting ATP hydrolysis and electron transport in mitochondria. This inhibits ROS production and reduces oxidative stress in cancer cells.
