(4-Iodophenylethynyl)trimethylsilane is a chemical compound with the formula (CH3)SiI. It is a liquid, which has been shown to be a useful coupling agent in cross-coupling reactions. (4-Iodophenylethynyl)trimethylsilane reacts with ferrocene to produce chlorobisferrocene, which can be used in polymerization reactions. The absorption maximum of this compound is at 350 nm, and it has a red shift of about 8 nm when irradiated with UV light. The chromophore of this compound is an ethynyl group, which can undergo conformational changes. These changes have been shown to affect the optical properties of the molecule.
