Product Information
4-(1H-Imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzoic acid is a heterocyclic compound with the molecular formula C8H6N2O2. It is an organic derivative of benzoic acid and has the chemical properties of a strongly hydrated triazole. 4-(1H-Imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzoic acid can be synthesized by reacting benzene, water, and methylhydrazine. This molecule has been used as a model for adsorption studies on microporous materials. 4-(1H-Imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzoic acid was found to adsorb to activated carbon at a rate that was dependent on the size of the pores in the material. The adsorption process was also found to be reversible and competitive, which means that other molecules will compete for the same space on the surface of the activated carbon.
