Product Information
- N1-Hydroxy-N8-(4-iodophenyl)octanediamide4-Iodo-SAHA
4-Iodo suberoylanilide hydroxamic acid is a small molecule that inhibits the growth of cancer cells by binding to and inhibiting the activity of mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase. This inhibition of the mitochondrial respiratory chain leads to oxidative stress, which triggers apoptosis. 4-Iodo suberoylanilide hydroxamic acid has been shown to be effective in treating cancers that are resistant to chemotherapy, such as leukemia and lymphoma. The drug also has a low toxicity profile. 4-Iodo suberoylanilide hydroxamic acid binds to the active site on cytochrome c oxidase in a number of ways, including steric hindrance, hydrogen bonding, and electrostatic interactions. This binding prevents the heme group from binding with oxygen, blocking electron transport and leading to cell death.
