Product Information
- N-(4-Benzoylphenyl)-2-iodoacetamide
- Acetamide, N-(4-benzoylphenyl)-2-iodo-
4-(N-Iodoacetamide)benzophenone is an inhibitor that binds to the peripheral region of the chaperonin molecule. It stabilizes the ternary complex of chaperonin, ATP and substrate. This binding prevents denaturation and photolysis of the substrate. 4-(N-Iodoacetamide)benzophenone has been shown to inhibit filament formation in isolated erythrocytes by preventing lysine residues from reacting with reactive oxygen species such as peroxide or superoxide. The structural studies of this compound have shown that it binds to the peripheral region of tropomyosin subunits, which are found in muscle cells.
