4-Iodobutyl tetrahydropyranyl ether is a diacetate that can be used in the synthesis of other acetates. It is a chiral catalyst for the catalysis of esterification reactions, as well as a chiral ligand. This compound has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of porcine pancreatic lipase, and it also shows high affinity for human pancreatic lipase. 4-Iodobutyl tetrahydropyranyl ether inhibits the reaction between vinyl acetate and an acid catalyst, resulting in the formation of an anion and a reaction product.
