Description:
5-Iodoresorcinol is a ligand that has been synthesized to mimic the interchain electron transfer process of oxyresveratrol. It has been shown to be effective in treating human fibroblasts, which have been exposed to ultraviolet light. 5-Iodoresorcinol is able to bind to iodides and is then oxidized by hydrogen peroxide, producing reactive oxygen species. This leads to the formation of DNA single strand breaks and cell death.
