Isopentenyl pyrophosphate triammonium salt (IPPAT) is a statin that inhibits the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which is responsible for the synthesis of cholesterol. IPPAT is used to treat patients with high levels of cholesterol in their blood. This drug has been shown to be effective in clinical studies and has potent anticancer effects on human cancer cells. It was also found to induce autophagy and stem cell-like properties in human cancer cells by activating the receptor for mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR).
