3-Iodo-N-phenylcarbazole is a monomer that belongs to the class of organic compounds. It has a colorless, oily liquid form and yields of low efficiency when polymerized. 3-Iodo-N-phenylcarbazole is used in the manufacture of methoxy polymers, which are used in solar cells. This compound also emits fluorescence under ultraviolet light and is used as an acceptor for fluorescence. 3-Iodo-N-phenylcarbazole should be handled with care because it reacts with halides, such as chlorine gas or hydrogen chloride gas, to produce toxic gases.
