- 3-(benzyloxy)-N-[3-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl]benzamide
2-Iodo-4-nitroaniline is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme cytochrome P450. It has been shown to inhibit the catalytic activity of the enzyme in vitro, and thus may be used as an inhibitor in vivo. In addition, 2-iodo-4-nitroaniline inhibits the growth of Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes by interfering with sulfathiazole resistance. 2-Iodo-4-nitroaniline can also act as an antagonist to caffeine concomitantly. This drug is synthesized by cross coupling sodium carbonate with trifluoromethyl groups and then reacting with nitrobenzoic acid. The molecule is often studied using molecular modeling techniques.
