Iron(II) oxide (FeO) is an inorganic compound that is a natural mineral found in many places. It has been used as a catalyst for over 50 years and is used to produce hydrogen gas from water, which can be used as fuel. FeO has been shown to be effective against various bacterial strains, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Salmonella enteritidis. FeO reacts with the hydroxyl group on the surface of bacteria cells and forms iron hydroxide, which damages the cell membrane. FeO also reacts with nitrogen atoms on the surface of bacteria cells to form oxides. The activity index is high when there are high values of water vapor and potassium dichromate in the sample preparation solution.
