Product Information
- Benzenamine, 2-iodo-5-methoxy-
- 2-Iodo-5-Methoxy-Phenylamine
2-Iodo-5-methoxyaniline is a convergent synthesis of quinolones. It is a carbonylation product of 2-iodo-5-chloroaniline with phenylacetaldehyde in the presence of palladium chloride. This process has been shown to inhibit the activity of proteases and protease inhibitors, including HIV protease and serine protease. 2-Iodo-5-methoxyaniline is also an inhibitor for human leukocyte elastase (HLE). HLE is a serine protease that can cause inflammation and tissue damage in humans. The inhibition of this enzyme by 2-iodo-5-methoxyaniline may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with the active site serine residue.
