1-Isothiocyanato-2,3-dimethylbenzene is a phenyl compound that is used as an antitussive. It is a cyclizing agent and has been shown to have antitussive effects in animals. These substituents can be removed in a reaction called de-sulfurization, which results in a thiol group (a group of atoms containing one sulfur atom). This thiol group can be used to form sulfur bridges between two different molecules.
