2-(Indolin-3-yl)ethanamine is a fluorescent compound that belongs to the group of cycloalkyl ring compounds. It has been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation, and it also has neuroprotective effects. 2-(Indolin-3-yl)ethanamine is an activating ligand for hinckdentine (a serotonin receptor). It also binds to the halogeno site on the enzyme cholinesterase, thereby inhibiting this enzyme's activity. 2-(Indolin-3-yl)ethanamine is used as a precursor in the synthesis of a number of drugs, including antidepressants with enantiomeric purity.
