Product Information
2-Iodo-3-hexylthiophene is a monomer that can be used in the synthesis of heterojunction photovoltaic devices. This compound, which has an asymmetric carbon atom, exists as two isomers: 2-iodo-3-hexylthiophene and 3-iodo-2-hexylthiophene. The former is more stable and has an electron affinity that is higher than that of the latter. When magnesium is added to these compounds, they react with each other to form a complex. The acceptor molecule then reacts with the complex and catalysis occurs, forming a functional theory. This process is called solid phase synthesis. Gel permeation chromatography can be used to separate the different compounds from each other. FTIR spectroscopy can be used to analyse the structure of 2-iodo-3-hexylthiophene and determine its purity.br>br>
