DL-Isoserine is an amino acid that belongs to the class of β-amino acids. It has a chemical structure that contains a hydroxyl group, an intramolecular hydrogen bond, and a thrombin receptor. DL-Isoserine's affinity for the thrombin receptor is approximately 10 times greater than its affinity for other receptors. The stability of this complex is due in part to the formation of stable complexes with taxol and asymmetric synthesis.
DL-Isoserine can inhibit the activity of proteases such as thrombin by binding to the active site and blocking access to the cleavage site on substrate proteins. This inhibition occurs because DL-isoserine has a high affinity for the thrombin receptor and binds much more tightly than other proteases do.
