4-Iodopyridin-3-ylamine is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of natural products. It is also a switchable bifunctional molecule that can be used for the synthesis of novel synthetic strategies. 4-Iodopyridin-3-ylamine has been shown to have biological properties such as inhibiting bacterial growth, stimulating macrophage activity, and inducing cell death. The compound has been studied by NMR spectroscopy and found to exist in two different isomeric forms. The modification of 4-iodopyridin-3-ylamine with aminocarbonyl or aminopyridine derivatives leads to stabilization of the molecule and increases its stability against reductive deamination.
