4-Iodobenzoylacetonitrile is a benzodiazepine receptor ligand. It binds to the benzodiazepine receptor and displaces other ligands such as diazepam, flumazenil, and neurosteroids. The affinity of 4-iodobenzoylacetonitrile for the benzodiazepine receptor is significantly higher than that of diazepam. However, it has not yet been synthesised in vivo due to its high reactivity with various chemical groups. This radiotracer has been used to measure the uptake of radioactivity by the adrenal glands in Sprague-Dawley rats injected with radioactive iodide. 4-Iodobenzoylacetonitrile binds to the benzodiazepine receptor and displaces other ligands such as diazepam, flumazenil, and neurosteroids.
