2'-Iodoacetanilide is a synthetic chemical that consists of an amido group linked to a terminal alkyne. It can be synthesized by reacting aniline with chloroacetyl chloride in the presence of sodium bicarbonate. 2'-Iodoacetanilide has been shown to have optical properties that are different from those of its unsubstituted counterpart, which is due to the presence of the bulky iodide substituent. This reactant can be used in reductive elimination reactions and as a building block for heterocyclic synthesis.
