Product Information
- Benzaldehyde, 3-iodo-4-methoxy-
- p-Anisaldehyde, 3-iodo-
3-Iodo-4-methoxy-benzaldehyde is a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonist. It is a nonselective, fulvene, hybridized, nonaromatic compound with acidic properties. 3-Iodo-4-methoxy-benzaldehyde has been shown to bind to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor and activate it. Activation of this receptor leads to increased levels of intracellular calcium and neurotransmitters, which can lead to cancer cell death. 3-Iodo-4-methoxy-benzaldehyde has been shown to have potential use as an anti-cancer drug due to its ability to inhibit the growth of tumour cells by binding selectively and activating the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors on these cells. This drug has also been shown to have efficacy in inhibiting the production of protein kinase C (PKC).
