Product Information
- 8-Isoquinolinecarbonitrile
- Isoquinoline-8-carbonitrile
Isoquinoline-8-carbonitrile is a chiral molecule that is used in liquid crystal devices. It has been shown to be useful as a chiral dopant for the production of cyclohexanone oxirane (CO) liquid crystals. The CO liquid crystal device was found to have a tunable optical response and an improved response time. This compound also has ferroelectric properties and can be used as a dopant for dioxolane or pyrrolo acetonedicarboxylate in ferroelectric devices with high dielectric constants. Isoquinoline-8-carbonitrile is also able to form asymmetric carbon bonds, which makes it useful in the synthesis of butyrolactone and tetrahydropyran.
