Description

Isobutyl Mercaptan is a colorless gas that has a boiling point of -14.6°C and a density of 1.24 g/L at 20°C. It reacts with water to produce hydrochloric acid and sulfur dioxide gas. Isobutyl Mercaptan is used as an additive in the production of polymers and plastics, as well as in the manufacture of rubber products, pesticides, synthetic fibers, and pharmaceuticals. Isobutyl Mercaptan is also used as a chemical intermediate in the production of other chemicals such as ethylene sulfide or ethylene oxide.
