It is used to treat deficiency type pancreatitis and other diseases that are caused by environmental pollution. Isotoosendanin is a mixture of various chemical compounds, including carthamus tinctorius (yellow dye), which has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in animals. The pharmacokinetics of this compound has been studied in rats, which showed that it had a low systemic clearance and a long half-life.
