Product Information

Name:
Isothiazole
Synonyms:
  • 1,2-Thiazol
  • 1,2-Thiazole
  • 2-Azathiophene
Description:

Isothiazole is an amide that has been shown to have low toxicity profiles in animal studies. It inhibits the activity of enzymes involved in microbial metabolism and cellular respiration, which leads to cell death. Isothiazole has been shown to be a potent antagonist against bacterial glutathione reductase, cytochrome P450, mycobacterium, and human esterases. The compound is chemically stable and also exhibits good stability with sodium carbonate. Isothiazole has been shown to inhibit infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, leprosy, and malaria by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase. Isothiazole also inhibits protein synthesis in inflammatory cells and can be used for the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis or Crohn's disease.
