Isopilocarpine HCl is a drug that has been shown to interact with capillaries, and can be used as an expression vector for the production of recombinant proteins. Isopilocarpine HCl is also a component of tobacco, which has been shown to affect the cardiovascular system. Isopilocarpine HCl is an amide derivative of carvacrol and has been shown to have antimicrobial properties against viruses and bacteria. Isopilocarpine HCl inhibits the microglial activation process in bmscs (bone marrow-derived monocytes/macrophages). This inhibition may be due to its ability to block microglial cell proliferation and cause microglia cells to produce less proinflammatory cytokines.
