4-Iodo-1h-pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid (4IPC) is a pyrazole compound that has been shown to be an inhibitor of human tumor cells. 4IPC inhibits the growth of cancer cells by reacting with copper, which creates a reactive intermediate that reacts with DNA and RNA. This reaction inhibits cellular activity and prevents cell division. 4IPC also has inhibitory activities against other types of cancer cells as well as tumor cells in mice. The heterocycles in this compound are substituted with acetylides, giving it anti-inflammatory properties.
