Product Information
5-Nitroquinoline-8-carbonitrile is a cysteine inhibitor that binds to the active site of cathepsin, a protease enzyme. It also inhibits other cysteine proteases, including pyridine nucleotide and nitroxoline. 5-Nitroquinoline-8-carbonitrile has shown efficacy against pathological conditions characterized by excessive extracellular matrix degradation such as arthritis and atherosclerosis. This drug may also have therapeutic potential as an anti-inflammatory agent in the treatment of inflammatory disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis.
