Product Information
2,5-Dibromo-3-octadecylthiophene is a Grignard reagent that is used as a catalyst in polymerizations. It is used to create polymers with high molecular weight and narrow molecular weight distribution. 2,5-Dibromo-3-octadecylthiophene reacts with metallocene catalysts to produce polymers with low levels of long chain branching. It can also be used in the polymerization of olefins using palladium catalysts. The reaction temperature, as well as the chain growth mechanism, determine the type of polymer that is produced. 2,5-Dibromo-3-octadecylthiophene reacts at lower temperatures than other brominated thiophenes due to its steric bulkiness.
