Juniperonic acid is a pentacyclic triterpenoid that is the major component of juniper oil. It has been found to inhibit the synthesis of fatty acids and diacylglycerol and to affect the metabolism of polyunsaturated fatty acids in rat liver microsomes. Juniperonic acid also has an inhibitory effect on section, ethyl esters, and supercritical co2 flow. This compound may have potential applications in plant physiology, as it affects metabolic profiles.
