JDTIC is a synthetic opioid which acts as a δ receptor agonist. It has been used to study the effects of δ receptor agonists in various biological studies. JDTIC binds to the δ receptor on cells and causes an increase in the intracellular concentration of cyclic adenosine monophosphate, which is involved in many processes including pain perception. JDTIC also has been shown to be an antagonist at kappa-opioid receptors, and may have therapeutic potential for treating autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis.
