Ketotriclabendazole is a benzene ring with an attached triclabendazole group. Ketotriclabendazole inhibits the growth of helminths by binding to the benzene ring and preventing it from functioning as an electron donor in the electron transport chain. The triclabendazole group prevents helminth attachment to the intestinal wall and has been shown to be effective against nematodes, trematodes, and cestodes. Ketotriclabendazole is used for the treatment of animals infected with these parasites. Ketotriclabendazole may also be used for sample preparation in immunoassays or chromatographic methods.
