Product Information
Kongensin A is a physiological compound that blocks the apoptosis pathway. It has been shown to inhibit the ubiquitin ligases, which are enzymes that add ubiquitin molecules to proteins and target them for proteasomal degradation. Kongensin A also inhibits the cytosolic calcium levels and interacts with necroptosis, a type of programmed cell death associated with inflammation. Kongensin A has been shown to have toxic effects on the epidermis when applied to skin at high concentrations. This drug also has an effect on tubulointerstitial injury in kidneys and atrial fibrillation in mice. Kongensin A can be used as a treatment for microbial infection and autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis or multiple sclerosis.
